"Danzlüd ut Wismer" e.V. - The Folklore Ensemble of the Hanseatic City of Wismar,
is one of the most successful folklore dance groups of this genre stage dancing in Germany.

"Danzlüd ut Wismer" e.V.
since 1972 it has represented German dance folklore at international folklore festivals all over the world. The dance ensemble has won international and national folklore competitions and received prizes and diplomas from the judges at festivals for interpretation and choreography.

"Danzlüd ut Wismer" e.V.
it is a full member of the CIOFF section in Germany and the organizer of the International Folklore Festival of the CIOFF of the Hanseatic City of Wismar.
The Folklore Ensemble is a member of the Dance Association of the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

"Danzlüd ut Wismer" e.V.

it demonstrates the customs and traditions of German dance folklore through its rousing performance and interpretation of the choreography of retired ballet director Rosemarie Ehm-Schulz.

The internationally respected choreograph, Rosemarie Ehm-Schulz, with her expressive and vital folklore ballets on both a small and large scale, has played a decisive role in shaping the artistic profile of the ensemble since 1966.

Its professional approach to the performance and interpretation of German dance folklore has brought the Folklore Ensemble considerable recognition and high praise from international experts, the representatives of CIOFF INTERNATIONAL, the media and many friends in Germany and abroad.

Open-air maritime folklore dance shows, particularly of northern German regions, with a considerable mass impact, both on a small and large scale, with expressive, vital and powerful folklore ballets, regionally based dance suites, solo pair and group dances, lively children's dances, popular songs and musical folklore live or recorded on CD, moderated with "Snacks up Platt" (talks in Low German), are calling cards for all visitor groups.

For the Folklore Ensemble it is a unique opportunity for practising tolerance and peaceful coexistence through a lively encounter with traditional art and culture.

The ensemble rehearses and develops its programmes at the "Danzhus Gägelow" and at the Wismar municipal theatre. The dance training is carried out by specialists in stage dancing.

has 90 active members, 62 of them childrens, pupils, trainees and students.
From 1972 - 2007 "Danzlüd ut Wismer" took part as a folklore ensemble for Germany in the following international folklore festivals of the CIOFF:

is constantly in productive contact with amateur and professional ensembles, associations and institutions in Germany and abroad and fosters cooperation in the spirit of a cultural exchange and international understanding.

With 35 dancers as well as through agreements with guest musicians the first-class ensemble offers open-air folklore dance shows on a small and large scale and solo programmes for indoor and open-air stages.
